2013 Rainbow Scrap Challenge, March Orange Week 5

Another week of fun with orange scraps and I have added 3 more 8.5" blocks. One is a heart and two are from orange crumbs and skinny strips. I don't have many orange scraps left in the box. Not to worry. My scraps multiply overnight.
Another knitted dishcloth is in the picture. I used a variegated orange cotton yarn for this one.
I'm looking forward to April and the excuse to play with another rainbow color. To see what others made with their orange scraps this week, go here Saturday morning.
Have a nice weekend. Happy Easter!

Hands2Help Charity Quilt Challenge 2013, It's Time To Sign Up

It's that time again. Time to sign up to make a quilt(s) for Hands2Help Charity Quilt Challenge 2013. See the button on the side of my blog? I made and donated a quilt last year and it felt good to help a child in need. Visit Sarah's blog, this post, and read all about two worthy organizations that are collecting quilts. I hope you will consider making and donating a quilt this year.

2013 Rainbow Scrap Challenge, March Orange Week 4

Another week of orange scraps. Pictured are three more 8.5" blocks, a Crossroads block, more 5" tumblers and 2.5" squares. I have more orange crumbs and scraps and another week to play with them because it's a 5 Saturday month.
I'm still knitting simple, colorful dishcloths while I watch tv. This week I used a pretty variegated white, blue, purple and green cotton yarn by Sugar'N Creme for the dishcloth in the picture.

Bee In My Bonnet Row Along Quilt Top

The Bee In My Bonnet Row Along Mystery Quilt outer border clue was for a pieced border. I searched my stash for green fabrics and found three pieces that blended. I opted for a solid outer border of a green print on the left side border, another green print for the right side outer border and a green strip print for the upper and lower outer borders. It felt good to continue pulling fabrics for my quilt from scraps and stash.
This quilt top is 86.5"x 68.5", twin size.

Bee In My Bonnet Row Along With Two Skinny Borders

The first border clue for this mystery row along quilt was to add two skinny borders. Lori will post another border clue tomorrow.

Quilty Barn Along, Barn Number 2

This is barn number 2 in the "Quilty Barn Along". Lori Holt at Bee In My Bonnet is hosting this challenge. The upper left corner of the barn door had a little run in with my scissors. Oops. There was a little repair work done there. Oh well.
I'm also participating in Lori's "Row Along Mystery Quilt Challenge", too. Her button is on the side of my blog.

All 13 rows of the row along mystery quilt are now together. Wow. Looking awesome! I love it. Lori tells us to expect a border clue Wednesday :D

2013 Rainbow Scrap Challenge, March Orange Week 3

It's been a slow week. I made two 8.5" blocks and a crumb pot holder. Another knitted dishcloth found its way into the picture. Loved the yarn I used, a variegated lime green cotton yarn. I knitted two dishcloths this week but gave the other away. It was made using a pale blue, white, yellow and green variegated cotton yarn. Knitting is addictive. I like to knit.

Package in the Mail and Bee In My Bonnet Row 13

This came in the MAIL! Happy Dance! Beautiful fabrics, a sewing basket block, a paper pieced bird and a bag of fruity jelly beans! Yum. My name was drawn for Terri's QuiltNCards giveaway drawing! Thank you Terri : D

Row 13, Dancing Flowers, all finished. This is the last row of this Bee In My Bonnet Row Along. I'll sew the 13 rows together next week.

2013 Rainbow Scrap Challenge, March, Orange, Week 2 and a 2012 RSC Quilt Finish

This 2012 RSC quilt is no longer a UFO. It's quilted with wavy horizontal lines. After a go in the washer and dryer, it finished at 62.5" x 81.5".
I like this quilt a lot : )

The colorful backing was pieced from my stash. It was time for some of those fabrics to go.

This is the second week that I have played with orange scraps. Four more 8.5" blocks and a happy scrappy house pieced using the pattern found on Bonnie Hunter's Quiltville website. These little houses are fun to make with scraps. The square in a square in a star was a new block for me.
I cut 10 more 5" tumblers and several 2.5" squares.
A couple knitted dishcloths, green and orange, found their way into the picture. Love that yummy orange one. I like to knit and watch tv at night. And eat popcorn.
To see what other's made with their orange scraps this week, go here Saturday morning.

Quilty Barn Along, Week 1

I like house blocks. Barn blocks, too. This is the first barn in Lori's "Quilty Barn Along". The instructions for this block can be found here at Bee In My Bonnet.

2013 Rainbow Scrap Challenge March, Orange, Week 1

It's the first of March and this month's color is Orange! This morning I pieced some 16 patch blocks and cut some 5" tumblers and 2.5" squares.
The orange knitted dishcloth in the picture was my first attempt to change yarn colors within a knitted project. I need to practice that trick, however I think my knitted dishcloths look better using only one color of yarn.
