2014 Rainbow Scrap Challenge, February, Pink, Week 2 and a Win
After playing with my pink scraps this week, I'll add four 8.5" blocks, a heart, a 16-patch, a star and a spool and two 6.5" sampler blocks to my collections. A knitted pink dishcloth made it into the picture.
Lucky me! Each week The Fat Quarter Shop draws a name in the Quilty Fun Sew Along. Last week we made Honeycomb blocks and my name was drawn for a package of Wonder Clips. Yah! The box of clips made it into today's picture.
I reply to all my comments. Lately I have been getting some no-reply comments. That makes it impossible to answer those questions directly. One week someone asked how I piece a 8.5" spool blocks. They are easy.
1. Sew skinny strips on a 4.5" square piece of paper. Yes. It's paper pieced. Remove paper, press and trim if necessary to make a 4.5" blocks.
2. The spool top and bottom is two 8.5"x 2.5" rectangles with four 2.5" background squares placed on the ends of the rectangles, right sides together. A diagonal seam is sewed on each 2.5" block from corner to corner. Seams are trimmed to a quarter inch and pressed open.
3. Two 4.5"x 2.5" rectangles of background fabric are sewed to the sides of the paper pieced 4.5" paper pieced square.
4. Sew the three units sewed together to made a 8.5" pieced block.
Now you can have fun making colorful, fun spool blocks, too!
