2015 RSC August Indigo, Black, Gray Week 1 and a RSC 8.5" Blocks Quilt Finish
Quilting my RSC 8.5" Blocks Quilt didn't leave much time to sew scraps into blocks. I did finish four 6.5" scrappy string blocks and sew them together to make a 12.5" "Eye of God" block to add to my collection. That makes eight of these blocks this year. When I have twelve, I'll sash them and make a quilt.
I sashed forth-eight of my 8.5" RSC blocks with 2" wide Kona white strips and 2" square cornerstones. The inner white border is 2" wide and the outer green border is 3" wide. It's quilted with a loose free motion meander and bound with a purple print.
The backing is a yellow print and a row of scrappy RSC 8.5" blocks. After a go in the washer and dryer it finished at 63" x 82.5". Feels good to have another RSC quilt finish.
I can see why you didn't have more block sewing time. Your finished quilt is wonderful! The scrappy strip on the back is just the right way to finish it off.
ReplyDeleteYour RSC quilt turned out beautifully. Love all the color. You still have a few weeks to finis your black blocks, but you got a great start.

Your "easy blocks" quilt looks great with the quilting, and the back is really fun. I do like the blacks and whites for the God's eye. I'm sure it will blend well with the others. Congrats on a very good finish!
