Some fun with my AQUA blue scraps this last Saturday of July.

DP 9 Patch Baby Quilt

Most of the fabrics in this 38" square DP 9 patch baby quilt are from Me & My Sisters Moda collections. It was quilted with diagonal straight lines. A trip through the washing machine and then the dryer made it as soft as it looks.

Tetris QAL Week 2

There was a carry over of two yellow blocks from week one. I'll continue to do that if it works out. If not I'll leave them out.

Reversible Donation Lap Quilt

Some of the fabrics used in this bright, busy reversible 41"x56" pieced strip lap quilt are from a collection called watercolors. A free motion meandering quilting pattern was done with variegated thread. The binding is black fabric with white swirls.

Crafter's Campfire Today

When the grandchildren come to visit, they enjoy crafts. Painting and drawing with color pencils on construction paper is a favorite. They like to paint rocks, too.
Next weekend they plan to paint a wood stool that I found at the local Goodwill Store for $2. We have sandpaper, paints, brushes, sponges and stencils. If they like painting the stool, we have three wood chairs that need paint. I found them at Goodwill Store for $5 each.
When they aren't painting, they like to sewing 5" squares and 2 1/2" strips together to make table toppers, doll blankets, pillows and quilts.
If it's not raining or too dry to built a fire, we toast marshmallows. If we can't toast marshmallows, no problem. We pop up lots of microwave popcorn! Yum!

July's Blue Rainbow Challenge, Three Blocks and Strips

Each month I have made three blocks similar to the blue ones in the picture. First red, then green, pink, neutral, yellow, purple and now blue. And each month I've set aside some 2 1/2" wide "width of fabric" strips for a jelly roll race quilt in December.
July is blue color month and I so far I have used only my blue scraps and stash fabrics. Not AQUA blue. I think I may call next Saturday, the last Saturday of this month, AQUA blue Saturday. I don't have a lot of aqua blue fabrics and scraps, but I might be able to make an aqua blue house block and potholder.

Tetris Quilt Along Week One

I didn't need another "Work In Progress", but Melissa at Happy Quilting described a Tetris Quilt Along that I didn't want to pass up. It's week one and a picture of the first block doesn't have to posted until next Tuesday. So there's time to jump in and play.
