Quilty Barn Along, Barn 7

Pictured is my version of Barn 7 in Lori's Bee In My Bonnet's Quilty Barn Along. Her button is on the side of my blog. There are thirty-two pieces of fabric in that small 6.5" block of 4 pinwheels! I have a few cats and a horse in this barn. Had fun with this one :D

Bee In My Bonnet Row Along Quilt Finish

I finished my scrappy Bee In My Bonnet Row Along quilt. Just out of the washer and dryer, it finished at 68"x 85", twin size range. It's cute.


The backing is light blue polka dots on white. The binding is scrappy, too. I cut 10" strips from scraps and sewed them end to end.


It's quilted with  horizontal wavy quilting lines. I used my domestic sewing machine, a walking foot and the stitch length set at 3.2. Feels good to have this UFO finished.

2013 Rainbow Scrap Challenge, May Blue, Week 4

This is the last week we're playing with bright blue scraps and my box of blue scraps is still full. Pictured are four 8.5" blocks, a 9" crossroads block, a pot holder/hot pad, some 5" tumblers and 2.5" squares to add to my collections. I'm knitting a dishcloth with Denim Blue Sugar'n Cream cotton yarn. It's almost finished. It's been a good month.
This week, most of my sewing time has been spent finishing up a UFO, a quilt top I made during Lori's Bee In My Bonnet Row Along. I'm binding it now. After it has a go in the washer and dryer, I'll take and post a picture. Maybe Sunday.

Quilty Barn Along, Barn 6

This is the 6th quilt barn block. More horses in the one. A maple leaf blocks on the side. Lori will post instructions for barn number 7 Wednesday. It's not to late to jump in and catch up as we're only half finished.

2013 Rainbow Scrap Challenge, May, Blue, Week 3

After another week of playing with my blue scraps, I'll add four 8.5" blocks, a scrappy house and more 5" tumbles to my collections. LOVE making those spools. I still have a lot of blue scraps. When I look at the two string blocks, I have thoughts of making a scrappy, blue string block quilt one day.

Crochet and Knitted Dishcloths

I made 4 dishcloths this week. One was crocheted. After watching several "how to crochet" YouTube video clips, I was able to crochet a dishcloth using a single crochet stitch. It's the pink one in the picture. I used Azalea Sugar'n Cream cotton yarn and an "I" hook.
I didn't have enough Chocolate Umbre strip yarn to knit a dishcloth the size I wanted, so I added/knitted a strip of Soft Ecru from another ball of yarn. That's the dishcloth in the picture below the pink one. It didn't turn out as pretty as I had planned, but it is for washing dishes. The dark blue knitted dishcloth which looks black in the picture was knitted using Indigo Sugar'n Cream cotton yarn. The 4th dishcloth was knitted using Moondance Sugar'n Cream, a variegated navy, light blue, pale blue, purple and white cotton yarn. I used Number 7 bamboo knitting needles to knit all three.
