Quilting Hands2Help I SPY Quilt With Diagonal Straight Lines
The top of the I SPY quilt measured 53". Then I measured down the side 53" and placed a piece of 1 1/2" wide blue painter's tape from that point to the far top corner. Using the tape as a guide, I sewed along the sides of the tape. I relocated the tape, placing it on one side of the two quilting lines. Using the tape as a guide I sewed a third diagonal line. I now had three quilting lines, each about 1 1/2" apart. I measured 3" from one of the quilting lines and placed a piece of tape parallel to the 3 quilting lines. I again sewed three quilting line 1 1/2" apart. After doing this from the other side, I created a grid of quilting lines.
This is a close up.
Finishing up this quilt is my goal for this weekend :)

Nicely done - this is a cute quilt and the simple grid works great with it. Gotta love the painter's tape.
It looks like the tape is giving you nice straight lines. I like the grid quilting.
The perfect quilting for this quilt... looking good!
Hey, this looks GOOD! Thanks for describing how you did it!
Looks great! I have used blue painters tape too and love it!
Yes. I understand that blue painters tape has been used a long time, but I didn't think to use it for straight line grid quilting until I saw The Empress of the Universe use it on her http://imperamagna.blogspot.com
I'm beginning to think that I'm one of the last quilters to know this trick :D
Good luck with your project, Sheila! lovely quilt!
Great quilt! I use blue painters tape for so many things but I've never tried it on a quilt. I might use that for my H2H quilt, if I ever get the top done!
WOW! What a fun & colorful quilt!
What a great idea to sew a grid. Love it.
