2013 Rainbow Scrap Challenge, November, Brown, Week 1

Happy Halloween! Can't believe it will be be November tomorrow. A month and 25 days until Christmas. My scraps are separated by colors. Feels good to be playing with brown scraps, my last box of scraps. . While tidying my stash, I found a few more small black fabric scraps large enough to cut more tumbler units. After a day of playing with my brown scraps I'll add several brown 5" tumbler units, some 2.5" squares, and some 8.5" blocks. A couple knitted dishcloths made it into the picture. One would think I have a tall stack of finished knitted dishcloths, but no. I keep giving them away.
To see what others did with their brown scraps this week, go here Saturday morning.

Why I Would Like To Win A Baby Lock Melody Sewing Machine

I've seen a Melody Baby Lock Sewing Machine at my local quilt shop and it is so cool. Lots of cool features. This machine is up to any quilting project that I could throw it's way. And more. It would be awesome if I could win this Melody Sewing Machine. Thank you for sponsoring this year's Fall Festival Online Quilt Show. I hope I win!
If you would like to enter to win a Melody Baby Lock Sewing Machine, go here. Good luck.

My Scrappy, Happy, Colorful Bee In A Bonnet Row Along Quilt

Late last year and early this year I participated in a "row along" hosted by Lori Holt of Bee In My Bonnet. Using Lori's instructions and scraps from my stash, I pieced this happy twin sized quilt. It's my happy quilt because it make me smile.
I joined a quilt guild in January of this year and entered my quilt in their annual September quilt show. People that attended the show had an opportunity to vote for their favorite quilts in several categories. My quilt won a ribbon! Thank you, Lori Holt, for creating and hosting a wonderful row along quilt.
I'm entering my quilt in the Fall Festival Online Quilt Show here. Voting starts November 1. I hope you will go by and vote for your favorite quilts.

Jigsaw Puzzle Quilt Top in Batiks

I've been wanting to make a puzzle quilt for awhile. Earlier this year I found a free Baby Jigsaw Puzzle Quilt Pattern here. Using 35 different batik fabrics,  I make this 30.75"x 42.5" quilt top. The pattern suggests using black fabric for some pieces. Maybe it's an unfinished puzzle. I feel it needs a border to make it a little larger if it is to be a baby quilt. Could be a wall hanging with or without a border.
By the way, there are a several free patterns at this website.

More Mug Rugs From Batik Scraps

Two more 7"x 10" cobblestone mug rugs from batik scraps.
And a 7"x 10" mug rug from batik crumb scraps from the bottom of the box. When I finish a batik BOM quilt in December, I'll have more scraps.

2013 RSC, October, Black and Gray, Week 3

After week 3 of the the Rainbow Scrap Challenge I'll add two 8.5" blocks and a Scrappy Happy House to my collections. I pulled my batik scraps and made two 7"x 10" mug rugs. They are scrappy front and back. The backs are scrap batik strips. One is an attempt to use Wanda's cobblestones idea. You can find Wanda at "Exuberant Color".

Star Wars and Super Hero potholders are good gifts. I have scraps from making pillowcases and quilts.

And the backs of those potholders.

2013 Rainbow Scrap Challenge, October, Black & Gray, Week 2

After week 2,  I'll add five 8.5" blocks, some 2.5" squares and some 5" tumblers to my collections. I'm having a good time playing with these colors. To see what other made with their black and gray scraps go here Saturday morning.

Quilty Habit had a Lantern Along with prizes. I made a fun lantern baby blanket. Lucky me. My name was drawn and I won a $15 Gift Certificate from I Don't Do Dishes. I chose some "Comma" yardage and a fat quarter. When my package arrived, sweet Caitlin McIntyre sent me 2 lovely fat quarters instead of one. I'm going to enjoy playing with these fabrics. Thanks you Caitlin and Quilty Habit.

October's Rainbow Scrap Challenge colors are black and gray. I have some gray scraps and a lot of black and white scraps. This week I added five 8.5" blocks, some 5" tumblers and some 2.5" squares to my collections. I haven't posted pictures of my knitted dishcloths in awhile. I'll add these to my collection. That makes 22. They make nice little Christmas gifts.

Summer Breeze 2 Quilt Finished

I finished my Summer Breeze 2 quilt last week and failed to take pictures until today. I used a Missouri Star Tutorial, Double Slice Layer Cake.

It's backed with Summer Breeze yellow with little blue flowers, quilted with a loose meander and bound with Summer Breeze light green. After a go in the washer and dryer it finished at 71"x 80". Another UFO finish!

Quilty Barn Along Quilt Top

Yesterday and today I sashed my barns and added a border. The binding will be red. I must pick a backing and decide if I will quilt it with wavy lines or with diagonal lines in a thatch pattern. This is going to be a UFO for awhile.
Someone ask about the border of my Bungle Jungle baby quilt. Above is a closeup. The name of the fabric? "It's Elementary!" Yes, with an exclamation point.

Bungle Jungle 9 Patch Baby Quilt

I've had a couple packs of Bungle Jungle charms languishing on the shelf for awhile. I pulled some fabrics from stash to go with them to piece and back a baby quilt. Did buy some arithmetic fabric for the border. It's quilted with a loose meandering pattern using white thread. After a go in the washer and dryer, it finished at a soft 41.5"x 51".
And a picture showing the quilting, backing and green stripped binding.
