2014 Rainbow Scrap Challenge February, Pink, Week 3

Happy Valentine's Day! It stopped snowing and sleeting and the sun is shining today. Yah.
It's been a busy sewing week. My friend Barbara saw and kindly let me know that I had three incorrectly turned block units in my Celtic Solstice quilt top. They were not difficult to make right as I had not started the quilting step. Thank you so much Barbara. I would have felt terrible when I found them after quilting and binding. I've also been piecing Quilty Fun and Goodnight Irene blocks that I'll show in later posts.
Today I'll post pictures of Scrappy Rainbow Challenge progress.

Last year I paper pieced 6.5" 60 degree pyramid units with scrappy strings. I'll continue making them this year or until I have enough for a quilt top. Forgot to piece some dark blue ones last month.
I'm going to start making 7" scrappy string blocks, too. Sometime I need to make something to use up the scrappy crumbs that are accumulating. Suggestions?

I pieced two pink scrappy happy houses, then wonky sashed those as well as two pink houses from previous RSC years. When I have 42 blocks, I'll have enough for a wonky scrappy happy house quilt. Two 8.5" kitten blocks, three 5.5" coco mug blocks and a pink strip knitted dishcloth made it into the picture. The plan is to eventually sash the kitten blocks I make this year with purple fabric for a lap quilt. The mugs will probably be a long term project. Possibly a coco mug wall hanging or a quilt of coco mugs. The coco mug pattern is from Lori Holt's Quilty Fun book.
To see what others made with their pink scraps go here Saturday morning.

That's where photos can really save us - glad your oops where caught before quilted. You have so many different blocks!

You're doing a really lovely variety of blocks for the RSC. Love the addition of the cat blocks, and I love the knitting that always sneaks into the picture. LOL
So good to hear your weather is subsiding (again). You Eastern States are sure getting it this year. Send some of the liquid this way. We are being told to shower less often, so scary!

You work like I do -- something here, something there. We'll both get to the finish line some day. It sounds like you at least have a plan!

I like the pink striped yarn dishcloth. I'll have to look in my yarn stash and see if I have that one.

Such pretty pinks you have been playing with. The houses are going to look great in a scrap happy quilt.

Thanks for the idea to try scrappy equilateral triangles! Not sure when I'll get to play with this idea, but I love it!

I so enjoy seeing what you've been making. These rainbow scrap blocks are just so pretty! And what a good friend to show you the mistake before it was too late to fix it.

Love the pink houses! The cups are fun too. I made scrappy coffee cups for the RSC in 2012. They were such fun to make.

I think the pink Happy House blocks are my favorites. The colors are so bright and lively and the wonky settings contrast beautifully. The paper pieced pyramids look great.

So many beautiful rainbow blocks this week. Crumb squares of any size make nice centers for star blocks.
