2014 RSC August Pastel Green Week 5, Happy Scrappy House Quilt and Rainbow Kittens Quilt Finishes

This is the last week of scrappy pastel green scraps and I'll add two 6.5" sampler blocks and three 5.5" coco mugs to my collections. Six crocheted spiral scrubbies made it into the picture. To see what others made with their scraps this week go here Saturday morning.

I quilted my Happy Scrappy House Quilt with a loose free motion meander and bound it with a purple print from my stash. This is a Bonnie Hunter free pattern from her Quiltville blog website found here.

I pulled some purple fabrics from my stash for the backing. After a go in the washer and dryer it finished at 80.5" x 92.5". I've been making house blocks for this quilt for three Rainbow Scrappy Challenge years and I'm happy it's all finished. I love it.

I also finished my Rainbow Kittens Quilt. Yah! The 8.5" rainbow kitten blocks are sashed with 2.5" purple strips. The inner border is a 1.5" yellow vine print and the outer border is a 3.5" purple print.

I pieced some purple prints from my stash for the backing. Used another stash purple print for the binding. It's quilted with a loose free motion meander and after a go in the washer and dryer it finished at 58" x 69.5". My colorful little kittens are sitting in purple windows, living in a purple house quilt.
It was an extremely bright sunny day when these pictures were taken. Sorry about the glare on the quilts.

Oh my goodness you have been busy. I do like those spiral things. You must not have any purple left in your stash!! The house quilt is so fun and the kitties, too sweet.

You are really getting a lot done, and using a lot of stash too.

love your quilts. I think I need to make a scrappy hose quilt as I've seen one or two now and I love the look of them xxx

Love, love, love your little houses! I went to look at Bonnie's and I have to say I love yours more. You used better sashing and your borders work better. Good Job! It was worth all the time, for me anyway. Lol

The kitties are wonderful, too. Did you use the same borders as on the houses?

Someday you will have a lovely finish on the mugs, too. The green ones are lovely. Can't wait to see the orange ones!

Thanks for sharing all these goodies! Lots of inspiration!
Hugs

Oh, Sheila, you have outdone yourself this week - that house quilt is so pretty and the kitties are cute as can be. They are both really, really nice.

Oh, what fun quilts! Congrats on two cute, cute finishes. I like the front and backs. I take it you like purple to have so much on hand to piece for backs.

Note to self...find your yarn scraps and get to work on some of those scrubbies you admire each week.

The Happy House block quilt is fabulous. The sashing and border fabric is perfect. Making the blocks month by month really paid off.
