2015 RSC May Green Week 2 and Hands 2 Help Sweet Sixteen Quilt Finished

After a second week of playing with green scraps, a 12.5" block made with four 6.5" string blocks, two 5.5" string blocks and a pot holder made using the two 8.5" crumb blocks I made last week will be added to my collections. The two new 8.5" crumb blocks in the picture will be made into a pot holder this week. A cotton knitted dishcloth made it into the picture. To see what others made with their green scraps this week, go here Saturday morning.

My Hands 2 Help Quilt made with Sweet Sixteen blocks is finished. The 48 Sweet Sixteen blocks made with 2.5" squares cut from scraps are sashed with 2.5" light gray strips and 2.5" squares.

The row of small squares pieced into the backing is eight Sweet Sixteen blocks sewed together. The backing fabric is a soft pale gray with a light brown print and the binding is a blue on blue print. After a go in the washer and dryer it finished at 61" x 80". This quilt will go to a local charity, Ebenezer Family, that provides a safe, loving place for children that have been removed from their homes because of abuse or neglect. They currently care for 38 children ages 3 to 21. I'll deliver this quilt May 26th.

Thank you for showing us the H2H quilt. When I looked at it enlarged it was so colorful. The light sashing really sets them apart perfectly. I may even start on one with leaders and Enders, because I have so many jellyrollfabrics to play with now. Finally got them sorted. Will keep this for reference.

You have really been busy!! Love the string blocks....they are always fa proof mine. Nice knit dishcloth, too. Makes me remember that I have a stack of yarn that needs to be knit into new ones. Sweet charity quilt.

So sad to think of kids abused and neglected. Where better for a quilt to go? Congrats on a lovely finish.

And, as always, looks like you put your green scraps to good use.
