2015 RSC May Green Week 4, QOV Blocks, RSC Tumblers

Still working on green crumbs this week. Two 8.5" green crumb blocks became a pot holder this week. I then made two more 8.5" crumb blocks that I'll turn into a pot holder next week. I'm heavy in crumbs in all my rainbow colors this year as I've been allowing them to accumulate over the years. Another cotton knitted dishcloth made it into the picture. To see what others made this week with their green scraps, go here Saturday morning.

Our monthly guild meeting is this week. I'll turn in my H2H Sweet 16 Quilt made for Ebenezer's, a place that cares for 38 children when they are removed from their home because of abuse or neglect. I'll also turn in these four 8.5" red, white and blue blocks pictured for our guild's Home Town Hero's quilts' project.

During 2013's RSC, I cut 5" tumblers from scraps each month. I forgot about those tumbles last year. This year while organizing my sewing area, I found the tub of 2013 cut tumbles and started piecing them together this week. First I chain pieced one light tumbler to one relatively dark tumbler leaving some loose tumblers to fill in the sides.

Here are those two unit tumblers laid out on the design floor. The four bottom rows have been pieced together. Looks good as I see the seams are matching okay. I may rearrange some tumblers, but for the most part, I'm good with what see. Pressing the seams open is working for me. Hopefully this will be a RSC quilt top during next week.

Great progress on your greens. I had forgotten about those tumblers. Good for you in a super 'find' and I would leave them as you have them laid out - you'll drive yourself nuts flipping them around.

how exciting the colors blend on the top crumb pieces. I hate calling such lovely abstracts crumby. Improv pieced... there we go! LeeAnna

The tumbler quilt and its easy work make me feel like trying it. The key word for me is easy.

You've accomplished a lot this week, Sheila! I had to go back and look at your H2H quilt again, it is so pretty! Your RWB blocks look good, too. And the tumblers are perfect. That is such an easy block. I've got an ice cream bucket full of those I've cut from leftovers. I need to add that back in to my list!

Great use of your green crumbs this year. Those tumblers are so cute... I found a paper template for one when I was moving my rooms around. Some year I'll make some.
