2019 RSC July Pink, 2"x3.5" Piece RSC Quilt Finish, Growing Up Odd Quilt Finish

The RSC color this month is PINK. I like pink. Needing to start turning RSC accumulating blocks, into something, I pulled my blocks made with 2"x 3.5" pieces, make six  blocks with purple to make this RSC throw quilt that I call Sew Scrappy Rainbow. It's quilted with a meander and finished at about 54"x 72".

I also pulled my Growing Up Odd RSC blocks, make some additional blocks with other colors to finish this quilt I call Whimsically Growing Up Odd. It's quilted with a free motion meander and finished at about 64" x 82". The free pattern tutorial for this block is at weddingdressblue.wordpress.com.

The last three quilts I have made are wavy, not flat and don't hang nicely. Though I did a lot of pressing and measuring during construction, flat quilt tops didn't happen. Sewing and quilting tips would be appreciated. Question. Can a professional quilter with a quilting machine turn a quilt that doesn't lay flat into a flat quilt?

LOVE your version of the Growing Up Odd in RSC style. I quilted one that was just all scraps. The controlled version gives it a very unique look. Have a great weekend.

i really love your Growing Up Odd! great job! I made one, too, for RSC18, but i used different colors in each of the blcoks, and mixed it up a bit... great job on the finishes!

Love the finishes! You can make the quilt flat by blocking it.
I do this by laying it flat on the floor/carpet and laying damp towels on top of the wavy part of the quilt and leaving it to dry.
Once the towels dry, the quilt underneath is magically flatter.
Some people block their quilt when it's wet and pin it to the carpet.

I have no recommendations on flatter quilts, but I will tell you they are all fantastic.

Your quilts are beautiful. I love how you make all those different blocks each month and put them together so perfectly!
I have had a lot of quilts with wavy issues. Usually, I can make them behave when I quilt them. I thunk a lot of the time the problem is fabrics with different stretch to them

Think, not thunk! LOL

I love your quilts... I don't notice any wobbles. Your recipients won't notice either. I can't help you with that concern. When I notice that in my own quilts (often) I just realize I'm an amateur and hobbiest. Nobody has given their quilt back to me. I'm sure your quilts are loved, just as they are.
Hugs

You have 2 lovely scrappy finishes! Great job. Sorry, no help on the wavy but sounds like Kathy's idea might be something to try.

I was told once that my quilt hung wavy because I stretched the binding too tight when I was sewing it on. They suggested I pull it off and re do it, but I have never bothered! I have noticed that some quilts are wavey after I quilted them, especially if the amount of quilting was not even across the quilt.
