Symphony of Blues Progress and May For Me
My Symphony of Blues quilt top is ready for batting, backing, quilting and binding. The top is about 64"x72". Two packs of 2 1/2" strips from Connecting Threads, a gift from my sewing buddy Cathy, make up the center. I cut each strip in half, randomized the pieces, sewed them together to form a single long strip and did the "jelly roll race". Turned out very nice!
I bought dark blue from the Symphony of Blues collection to make a 2 1/2" inner border. The outer border is medium blue bubbles from the collection cut into 3" strips for the sides and 5 1/2" strips for the top and bottom. The wider strips at the top and bottom not only added height but made the quilt less square. I bought light blue bubbles fabric for the backing and tiny blue stripes fabric for the binding. Those fabrics are pictured in the second photo. Easy straight line grid quilting would look nice on this quilt.
May For Me has been fun! I've read several books and I've sewed 5 buttons on my May For Me BINGO Card.

Isn't this pretty! I am still eyeing that fabric line and now seeing this, know I have to get some. Just a lovely May 4 Me quilting fun.
I love your jelly roll quilts, Sheila! This one is a great quilt!
Oh Sheila! It is beautiful! I love the color! Is it from connecting threads? I need to order some of this fabric strips.
WoW! My sister would love this quilt. Blue is her color. Beautiful!
Ooooo I love the Blues... So cool!
Sounds like you are finding time to play in May!
Enjoy!
Great fabric line, love the blues. Happy May 4 me.
I love your quilt! My guild is having a jelly roll race in a couple months and I decided to cut my strips rather than buying one. You've got me wanting to make a blue quilt!
Your blues are beautiful! I am hoping to try a jelly roll race quilt later on this month, but mine will be in pinks. Looking forward to photos of the whole finished quilt!
I love the blues in this quilt. I like that you cut the strips in half for more variety. I also like the way you made the border wider at the top than at the sides. Great quilt!
How very different from your very colorful ones... you are trying new things!!! I love the darks and lights, and all the prints are so interesting!
Hugs~ I missed you while I was on vacation
