2014 RSC May, Green, Week 4
This week I'll add four 8.5" cat blocks, four 7.0" scrappy string log cabin blocks and two 6.5" sampler midgets blocks to my block collections. A green cotton knitted dishcloth made it into the picture.
Someone asked how I organize my RSC blocks. I store my cat blocks, my 8.5" blocks, my 7.0" string blocks, my string triangles, my midget sampler blocks, my happy scrappy house blocks, my coco mug blocks and my finished hot pad/pot holders in individual stacks in a box that holds all Rainbow Scrap Challenge projects. Not very high tech. At or near the end of the year, I'll start sewing blocks together. If December is too busy, I'll work with blocks in January. If I don't have enough blocks for a quilt in a stack, I'll make more blocks during the next year's RSC. This is the second year I've made spool blocks, the second year I've made string blocks, the second year I have made string triangles and the third year I've make happy scrappy house blocks. Hopefully I'll have enough house blocks for a quilt in November.
To see what others made with their green scraps this week go here Saturday morning.

Loving your kitties and all your blocks in green!
Sheila, they all look great, but I, too, especially like the cat blocks.
More wonderful blocks - yes, the kitties are just too cute!
Your collection is a fresh green. They look nice
Love the greens, especially the cats.
Love the stripes on your thrifty block. More happy scrappiness. Thanks for sharing.
You get so many blocks done each week; you amaze me! Very nice thrifty block with the bold stripes.
Love your very vibrant green blocks.
You have a wonderful set of blocks, I especially love the string log cabins.
Love those scrappy strings! The little kitties sitting together are so cute!
SMILING again. LOVE it all.
(I organize my RSC blocks like you do).
More Irish cats! Love them.
Good storage ideas. Thanks for sharing them.
Hugs
Great blocks! I especially like the string blocks...so cool.
Now that's organized - high tech or not. Great blocks as always.
All your blocks look so nice!
That's a great idea to let blocks accumulate over multiple years. I keep adding new blocks thinking I will go back and fill in colors....so far not happening. And I appreciate that you keep your cats in a box and don't just let them wander all over.
I make stacks of the different things and pop them into drawers - very similar to you. Love the two cats together.... so fun.
Great blocks. Especially love the kitty ones!
