2016 RSC October Yellow and Orange Week 4, RSC Boxy Stars Quilt Finished

It's that time of year when we turn our RSC blocks into quilts. After making my yellow Boxy Star block, I needed two more blocks to have 12 blocks for a 3 x 4 block layout. After making two colorful, scrappy blocks, it was time to put my quilt together.

The backing is pieced from stash. It's quilted with a loose free motion meander and bound with a colorful print. After a go in the washer and dryer it finished at 49" x 63". Boxy Stars is a Bonnie Hunter pattern found here. I think I'll do this pattern again and make all the blocks colorful and scrappy.

This picture shows progress on my RSC Column Quilt. I sewed 1.5" white strips between each 55" column. Now it looks like a row quilt because it is 55" by about 70". No problem for me. I think I'll add a narrow white border and an outer border of green, blue, yellow or orange. Maybe I'l finish it this week. To see what others made with their scraps this week, go here.

Love the boxy star! Your row this month is great. I still need to make mine but love how you used all colors in there for the orange and yellow. I think I'll do that too. Looking great.

I love your Boxy Stars quilt! The sampler row quilt is looking great too. I am also planning to add a strip of background between my rows of blocks like you did.

the star quilt really brings home lessons on color and shade. The block looks different with different shade choices. So cool.

I like your Boxy Stars quilt! The two multi-colored stars are perfect for it. I also really like how you are finishing your sampler quilt. The white sashing is a great idea!

I like your row quilt. I have only done one before and donated it to QOV. I think I would like to do another and vary the sizes of blocks like you did.

The boxy star blocks seem to flip flop depending on where the colors are placed, very interesting. The rows look great with the white strips between. Sounds like you will finish it up with a bang.

Love your boxy stars - I have only made one of these blocks and gave it away :) I think I really like the scrappy star - although the orange one is really cool too. The row quilt is neat! I will have to follow your link and see more;)

Your boxy stars quilt is awesome! Looking forward to seeing what you will work on this year!

Both are beauties!
Are you getting the dump of snow that the weatherman said you were? We get an inch here and there. Maybe a whole 6" so far this year. We got an ice storm somewhere in there, and now every walkway is dangerous. Hope you are fairing better.
