Wilkes Quilters' Scrappy Mystery Donation Quilt Finished

We had the option of quilting each block individually and later sewing the finished blocks together using a "quilt as you go" method ..... Or we could sew the blocks together, create a quilt top, add batting, backing and quilt as we would ordinarily. That was April's Scrappy Mystery Quilt Clue. I chose the last method to finish my mystery quilt.

I pieced 12 soft fat quarters that my friend Sharon shared with me to make the backing for this quilt. I'm hoping my choice of guy friendly scraps for the front and brown and blue fabrics for the backing will bring a smile to some little boy's face.

This is a close up of the back showing a loose free motion meander. I used a red polka dot print for the binding. After a go in the washer and dryer it finished a soft 57.5" x 48". I'll turn in this happy child sized donation quilt at our guild's meeting later this month.

This quilt is also pictured and discussed in my post entry, 100 Quilts for Kids 2014 found here,

This looks a great pattern for a group charity quilt - might give it a go at our next weekend retreat

Oh, looks great and love what you did with the back. Simple quilting just gives that cuddleness to it. Lovely job.

Bright on the front, soothing on the back, great options. Congrats on the fun finish.

That is a mystery... I can't tell where the blocks are! Love the colors, as usual.

Another great donation quilt. I like how the bright scrappy front contrasts with the soft pieced back.

I too love the scrappy with the softer back. Thanks for sharing at Tuesday Archives this week! It's nice to see a mystery quilt can be simple too!!
