I've been busy making Star Wars and Marvel's Avengers pillowcases for grandchildren. I forgot to take pictures, but I thought they turned out nice.
The DICED APPLES quilt top finished at 51" x 62 1/2". I omitted the pieced second border described in the instructions. The skinny inner border is a light lime/yellow batik. When you look closely, you see leaves. In the lower left corner is a piece of Dreamscape Carnival fabric that is being auditioned as a possible binding choice.
I love apples and the fabrics in this quilt makes me think of the outdoors and apples. I hope to finish this quilt next week and see how it looks hanging on the wall in my home. Pictures of the finished quilt will be taken outdoors.

A Red/White/Blue Ohio Star Block for Beth
Sliced DICED Apples QAL Quilt Center
Two batiks I bought on sale, Dreamscape Subterranean and Dreamscape Carnival, are used in this quilt's pieced center. A third batik from the Dreamscape collection, a light green batik called Dreamscape Fire Opal, is pictured below the pieced center. Beside the light green is a dark green batik from my stash fabric and what I have left of the two Dreamscape batiks used so far.
The QAL Sliced Apples quilt pattern has a small inner border, a small pieced second border and a wider outer border. I think I will use the light green Fire Opal for the small inner border, the Subterranean and Carnival in the pieced second border, and the dark green batik for the wider outer border. I'm undecided about the binding.
May we all have a safe Memorial Day as we honor our veterans and soldiers.

May's Yellow Rainbow Challenge and Sliced Apples QAL
Today is the last Saturday of May's yellow Rainbow Challenge. I've enjoyed May because I like yellow.
I'm also working on a Quilt Along called Sliced Apples. The button is on my side bar. I chose some darker batiks for the challenge originally, but changed my mind and decided to use some yellow and red batiks instead. When I finish this quilt, I'm going to call it DICED APPLES.

Scrappy Red, Green, Pink and Neutral 16 Patch Blocks
When I decided to sew three 16 patch blocks each month for the Rainbow Challenge, I had to catch up with months January through April.

Scrappy Yellow Blocks
Three FUN 16 patch blocks of yellow scraps. They look happy.
Tori finished her pink camouflage strip quilt top. It's ready for some batting and backing. She sewed all the strips together herself. Her sister, Hannah, is working on the blocks for her quilt top made with Amelia fabrics by Me and My Sisters. We should have a picture soon. Tori and Hannah are very good with color selections and sewing. I'm proud of these two cute new quilters.

Symphony of Blues Quilt Is Finished
My Symphony of Blues quilt is all quilted, washed and dried. It's about 64"x72". A picture of the back shows the straight line grid quilting pattern. The warm evening sun filtering through the plum tree in the front yard was making soft shadows on the quilt as my mother held it up for a picture. This quilt is as soft and cuddly as it looks in the picture :D

May 2012 Rainbow Challenge Yellow House and Pot Holder
A yellow house and a yellow pot holder. I'm only showing one side of the pot holders, but the backs are very colorful, too.

Symphony of Blues Progress and May For Me
My Symphony of Blues quilt top is ready for batting, backing, quilting and binding. The top is about 64"x72". Two packs of 2 1/2" strips from Connecting Threads, a gift from my sewing buddy Cathy, make up the center. I cut each strip in half, randomized the pieces, sewed them together to form a single long strip and did the "jelly roll race". Turned out very nice!
I bought dark blue from the Symphony of Blues collection to make a 2 1/2" inner border. The outer border is medium blue bubbles from the collection cut into 3" strips for the sides and 5 1/2" strips for the top and bottom. The wider strips at the top and bottom not only added height but made the quilt less square. I bought light blue bubbles fabric for the backing and tiny blue stripes fabric for the binding. Those fabrics are pictured in the second photo. Easy straight line grid quilting would look nice on this quilt.
May For Me has been fun! I've read several books and I've sewed 5 buttons on my May For Me BINGO Card.

May's Rainbow Challenge is Yellow
On my. How I love yellow :D
Today I made three blocks for a rainbow quilt and pulled some yellow strips for a Rainbow Challenge Jelly Roll quilt in December.
It's going to be fun playing with pieces of yellow fabric this month.
