2016 RSC March Purple and Yellow Week 4, H2H Quilts In Progress

A mini tote bag in purple and yellow. That's all I have to show this week. Not scraps, but from stash. Yes. It's all Laurel Burch fabrics.

And a picture of the inside. I used this YouTube video clip to make it. I added an inside pocket and a button closure. I'm sending this little tote to my great granddaughter in California.
To see what others made with purple and yellow go here Saturday morning.

It's Hands 2 Help Challenge time! I'm attempting to make two charity quilts this year. This is a picture of my progress on a Sweet 16 quilt.

This is a picture of my progress on a Bonnie Hunter Dancing Nines Quilt.

2016 RSC March Purple and Yellow Week 3, Charity Baby Quilt

This was a good week with lots of fun playing with purple and yellow. I'll add these three 7" x 10" scrappy batik mug rugs to my collection of future gifts, donations. Mug rugs are fun to sew. I think they look like miniature quilts.

I'll also add these four Bonnie Hunter Happy Scrappy Houses to my collection. I need 42 house blocks to make a quilt. To see what others made with their purple and yellow, go here.

This happy, easy charity baby quilt was made using 16 WOF 2.5" strips to make sixteen 8.5" strip blocks. It has a 4" light border.

The backing is a pretty tone on tone blue print. The 6" coin strip sewed into the backing. The strip was pieced using scraps from the 16 WOF strips used in the quilt top. I pulled four 2.5" x 6" pieces from scraps to make the coin strip long enough to fill the width of the backing. When I'm unsure of a binding color, I often pull something red or purple. Red seemed to tie this little quilt together. Everything came from stash. It's quilted with a very loose free motion meander and finished at 39" square. I'll turn it in during our monthly quilt guild meeting Tuesday.

These four patriotic R/W/B 8.5" blocks will be donated Tuesday. One of our guild committees turns donated patriotic blocks into Home Town Hero Quilts.

2016 RSC March Purple and Yellow Week 2

After playing with purple this week, l have nine 6.5" purple butterfly blocks for my column quilt. The 2" HSTs are extras from making the butterflies' wings. A purple Boxy Block made it into the picture. The pattern for this block is on Bonnie Hunter's website. To see what others made with purple, go here Saturday morning.

I'm participating in Sarah's Nifty Nines Sew Along. I'll add these scrappy 9-patch blocks to my collection.

It's H2H time. Hands 2 Help. I'm making 16-patches blocks each month for a Sweet Sixteen charity quilt. I'll add these to my collection.

Making doll quilts has become addictive. This one finished at 19.5" square. I'll donate it to sell in our annual Quilt Show's Boutique.
