2013 RSC April Green Week 4

After a fourth week of playing with green scraps and yarn, I'll add four 8.5" blocks and a scrappy pot holder/hot pad to my collections. Knitted a green dishcloth out of a Sugar'n Creme cotton yarn called Mod Green, too. I have more green scraps to play with next year. To see what other's made with their green scraps, go here Saturday morning : )

Eat Your Fruits n' Vegies Batik Finish

Last fall I used a Jelly Pops Pattern by Calico Print Works to make a quilt top with a jelly roll called Eat Your Fruits n' Veggies Batiks by Pat Sloan and Moda. I added some batik strips from my stash to make a few extra blocks and add a couple borders. It's quilted with random vertical and horizontal straight lines using a shiny variegated Silky thread. It finished at 50.5"x 62". I attached a sleeve. It will hang on the wall over a sofa. It feels good to have this UFO finished.

2013 RSC April, Green, Week 3

After another week of playing with green, I'll add four 8.5 blocks to my collection. Also a scrappy happy house block, a crossroads block, some 5" tumblers, and 2.5" squares for those collections. I've been making these house blocks for a couple years. I'm using Bonnie Hunter's pattern posted on her blog.
Michael's Craft Store had Sugar'n Creme cotton yarn on sale for 97 cents a ball. I added several to my yarn collection. One was a pretty green that I knitted into a dishcloth. There's enough for another. Love, love, love green.
I've been quilting a small UFO quilt top that I hope to finish next week.

Quilty Barn Along, Barn 4

Pictured is barn number four in the Quilty Barn Along with Lori of Bee In My Bonnet. Her button is on the side of my blog. This one has a churn dash block on the side. It's my first attempt at this block and I like it. I can see an entire quilt of these blocks in my future.

2013 RSC, April Green, Week 2

Week 2 of the rainbow challenge and I have four more 8.5" blocks, a 5" block, more 5" tumblers and 2.5" squares and a knitted dishcloth using Sugar N' Creme's cotton yarn called Country Strips. I like the strip yarn series because projects have strips of color when they are knitted. I love green :D

2013 Rainbow Scrap Challenge, April, Green, Week 1

I love the color green. This week I pieced four 8.5" 16 patch blocks and cut some 2.5" squares and 5" tumbles to add to my collections. Yesterday I pieced and posted a picture of my 2013 Hands 2 Help Charity Challenge quilt top. It's a strip "I SPY" quilt top with green fabric background and should count as a green project this month.
To see what others have been creating with their green pieces of fabric this week, go here Saturday morning.

2013 Hands to Help Quilt Top

Today I made an I SPY strip quilt top for the 2013 Hands to Help Charity Quilt Challenge. I think a young boy will like these colors and fabric strips. The top is 44"x 59". Tomorrow I'll piece the back. I'd like to have this quilt finished before May.

Update. I saw a couple quilts on the internet that inspired me to make this quilt. One was at Bunk House Quilts. I can't remember where I saw the other. This idea is a good way to use up strips of fabric from other projects. The I SPY strips I used in this quilt were left over from making an I SPY quilt  for the 2012 Hands to Help Charity Quilt Challenge.

Quilty Barn Along, Barn 3

All three barns have been fun to piece. Great opportunities to use dark red scraps.in Lori's "Quilty Barn Along".
We have a lot of barns around here. Many are painted white. But most are gray, weathered or unpainted.
