2013 RSC, July, Turquoise, Teal, Week 4
Week 4 and I can add three 8.5" blocks, some 5" tumblers and a couple knitted dishcloths to my collections. I'm ready for August and a new color.
Donation Quilts For Kids
It's been a wonderful, busy week with family. Not enough time to sew or post until today.
Last week I turned in 3 donation quilts for kids at the Wilkes County Quilters guild meeting. I made the baby quilt on the far left. My friend Sharon Vrooman made and donated the other two children's quilts. The middle quilt is an awesome "Lorax" quilt, ideal for a little boy. The quilt on the far right is so sweet, "Little Girls in Bonnets". There were many oohs, nods and smiles at these quilts.. Thank you, Sharon. You are a talented, generous and a tireless advocate for children's quilts. We can only imagine how many wonderful warm, comforting memories are created by quilts made and donated to children's quilt programs everywhere : )

2013 Rainbow Scrap Challenge, July, Teal, Aqua, Turquoise, Week 3
I love these colors! This week I added four more 8.5" blocks and a hot pad/pot holder to my collections. A couple knitted dishcloths made it into the picture, too. One was knitted using Bernat Lemon Lime yarn from the Cotton Candy Collection and one using Sugar'n Cream Swimming Pool cotton yarn.
Angela, the Rainbow Scrap Challenge host, lost her mother this week. Today is the Memorial Service. Angela and her family are in my thoughts this weekend. To see what others made with their teal, aqua and turquoise scraps this week, go here to Angela's "So Scrappy" blog site.

Quilt Story Quilt-A-Long, Patch Blocks
Today I finished piecing the "Patch Blocks" for my Lucky Stars Quilt. Because I wanted them scrappy, I raided my collection of 2.5" squares. Next week I'll assemble the quilt top. It's been fun sewing along with the ladies at Quilt Story. I can't wait to see this colorful quilt finished.

Quilt Story Lucky Stars Quilt-A-Long, Star Blocks
Nine "Luck Stars" and I'm almost caught up. I like this star pattern. Works up nicely in scraps. Nine more "Patch Blocks" to make and I'll be ready to start sewing this colorful quilt top together.

Quilt Story Lucky Star Quilt-A-Long, Squares and Patch Blocks
It took me awhile to decide upon the 2.5 yards of background fabric needed for this quilt. Now I'm play catch up as this quilt a-long started in June. The Eight "Square Blocks" are finished. Nine "Patch Blocks", that's half of the eighteen I need are finished. I'll make some "Star Blocks" today. Most of this quilt will be made with scraps and fabric from my stash.

After another week of playing with scraps, I'll add a crossroads block, a scrappy happy house block, three 8.5" blocks, some 2.5" squares and some 5" tumblers to my collections. I love these colors.
Two knitted dishcloths made it into the picture. One was made from Bernat's Lemon Lime yarn from their Cotton Candy Collection and the other from Sugar'n Creme's Cottage Twists cotton yarn.
To see what others made with their scraps this week, go here Saturday morning.

Beaquilter Sampler QAL, Blocks 3 and 4
July's blocks, 3 and 4, in the Beaquilter Sampler Quilt Along are pictured. I'm using Stitch In Color fabric scraps a friend shared with me last year. The blocks are large, 12.5" square. This month we also cut the quilt's borders and sashing strips. Eight blocks, or four months to go and we'll start sewing this small quilt together. It's not too late to sew along. Click Beaquilter's button on the side of my blog.

2013 Rainbow Scrap Challenge, July, Teal, Turquoise, Aqua, Week 1
My pretty teal, turquoise and aqua scraps are in the same box. I didn't use all the scraps in the box last year and have added more since. Because I like these colors, I know it's going to be a good month. This week I pieced four 8.5" blocks for my collection. A knitted dishcloth made with Sugar'n Cream Barnyard Twists cotton yarn made it into the picture.

Another Donation Baby Quilt 2013
A friend shared some fabric she won in a drawing and I turned some of it into a sweet baby quilt. I sewed 2.5" x 5" pieces into rows and the rows into a brick pattern. Four rows went into the backing. The binding was cut from 2 fat quarters of coordinating yellow and orange solids. It was quilted with straight lines in a grid pattern using my sewing machine's walking foot. After a go in the washer and dryer, it finished at 37" x 40".
Our quilting guild would like members to make and donate a couple baby quilts and a few children's each year. I'll take this little quilt to July's meeting.
