2015 RSC November Lime Green Week 3, Two RSC Charity Baby Quilts Finished
This week after sewing a scrappy lime green 8.5" Eye of God block, I realized I had enough RSC blocks to make a charity baby quilt. Here they are sashed with 2.5" strips. The orange inner border is 1.5" strips. The outer blue border is 2.5" strips.
The backing is a line green fun print, the binding a coordinating colorful strip print. It's quilted with a loose free motion meander and finished at 38" square.
Last year I thought I would make 12 of these dog blocks in RSC colors for a large quilt. After four blocks I lost interest in making them and they sat in the orphan block box. Last week I sashed them with 2.5" strips for a charity baby quilt.
The backing is a blue swirl print. It's quilted with a loose free motion meander and bound with a coordinating light blue print. It finished at 42" square.
This year I've been making Happy Scrappy House blocks and 16-patch blocks in RSC colors. I'll continue making them next year until I have enough for quilts.
It's been another great RSC year and I look forward to playing with my colorful scraps next year. Thank you Angela for hosting another successful RSC year.
To see what others made this week go here.

I love love love the dog quilt!! So perfect for a baby boy! I also like the colorful string blocks too. It will be a fun quilt to help teach a little one their colors as well. What a super way to wrap up your week---TWO finishes!! Hooray!
Excellent finishes! I was toying with some of my orphan blocks for baby quilts this week too but nothing came of it. Maybe next time...
Those are both beautiful quilts! Those string blocks are especially happy.
What a lovely donation!
Two wonderful comfort quilts for little ones - hooray!
The scrappy quilt is just perfect, so bright with the sashing. All the other elements are exactly right. Glad the darling dogs will give some dear baby delight.
What a wonderful idea for the doggie blocks and for a good cause!
Great finishes! The people that get to snuggle under your quilts are very lucky.
Another great finish! And another! Glad you found a way to use up those extra blocks. Cute as they are, I can see how they wouldn't be fun to make.
You always make such good use of your scraps. Cheery charity quilts!
Great idea for the puppy blocks. I have a lot of quilts that stopped midway, so I think I'll be stealing your idea. Thanks!
The Eye of God blocks made up into a gorgeous quilt. So bright and fun!
The dogs are so cute! I love that pattern
Love the dogs but probably wouldn't love all the work to make them dogs! Nice that you have 2 charity quilts FINISHED! Yea!
What a great job you've done with all of those projects! Happy Thanksgiving! We have much to be thankful for, even with all the bad stuff happening. <3
