2019 RSC February Yellow, Sprouts, Houses, Sampler Blocks, Assorted Yellow Blocks, Coin Purses, Hot Pad, Baby Quilt, Doll Quilts
I finished up some February Yellow blocks for the RSC today. Pictured are six house blocks. One was a carry over from last year's RSC. Five blocks made with 2"x 3.5" pieces, two 49-patch blocks and a yellow Growing Up Odd are also in the picture.
Pictured above are eight yellow sprouts and some yellow RSC sampler blocks. Academic Quilter did a wonderful tutorial for a flower block. It was awesome. However, lazy me opted out for a square of yellow with a flower print. I'm still thinking about the applique peel block. My bad.
To see what others made with yellow, go here.
This is a picture of charity baby quilt I donated last week during our monthly quilt meeting. It was about 39" square.
This is the back of the quilt. This makes three baby quilts I have made using blocks and fabric I had bought for a large quilt. Often I start with an idea to make a large quilt and opt the blocks and fabric for baby quilts.
I donated these two doll quilts last week.
During this year I have decided to make small items for Christmas gifts. The coin purses, hot pad and knitted dishcloth will be added to my Christmas gift box.

2019 RSC February Yellow Week 2, 16-Patch, String Blocks, Crayons, Hot Pads, Ebenezer Blocks
February's Rainbow Scrap Challenge color is YELLOW. Pictured are eight 16-patch blocks, ten string blocks with an odd color string, and three hot pads. I want to make a RSC crayon quilt smaller than the one I made last year and I like the crayon quilt pattern by Emily Herrick called "Color Me" found here. Pictured above are two long string blocks, one for my red crayon and one for my yellow crayon. I'm also working on a scrappy quilt using our quilt guild's Ebeneezer quilt pattern. Pictured are red and yellow 6.5" squares and red and yellow 6.5" square 4-patch blocks for that quilt. To see what others made with yellow, go here.
I'm working on Rainbow Scrap Challenge blocks for several quilt this year and felt the need for a list to reference once in awhile. Some quilt projects listed below were started last year and I hope to finish them this year. Several projects listed are new. No problem if I don't finish all of them this year. I'll work on them next year.
Yes. I have a lot of scraps, but if I want to pull fabric from my stash, I do. My stash is pretty scrappy.
My list.
1. An Eye of God block quilt. I have blocks left from last year, but not enough for a quilt.
2. A house block quilt. I have house blocks left from last year, but not enough for a quilt
3. A 16-patch block quilt. So many possibilities with a stack of 16-patch blocks. Love me a stack of colorful 16-patch blocks.
4. A string block quilt using strings with an odd color string in each blocks.
5. A 49-patch block quilt.
6. A Growing Up Odd quilt larger than the Growing Up Odd baby quilt I made last year.
7. A quilt using blocks made with eighteen 2"x 3.5" pieces. I made some blocks last year, but not enough for a quilt
8. A crayon quilt. I made a large one last year. The crayon quilt I want to make this year will be smaller and similar to the "Color Me" crayon quilt by Emily Herrick
9. A sprout quilt. Seems everyone is making sprout blocks, so I'm jumping in, too.
10. Angela's 2019 Sampler Quilt. This is going to be fun.
11. Angela's 2018 Sampler Quilt. I have blocks from last year, but not enough for a quilt.
12. A Birch Tree block quilt. Looks like fun.
13. An Ebenezer pattern quilt with blocks in seven rainbow colors.
14. Hot Pads in each rainbow color for Christmas gifts.
15. Teeny Tiny coin purses in each rainbow color for Christmas gifts.
16. Knit dishcloths in each color for Christmas gifts.

2019 RSC January Red Week 4, Sprouts, Houses, Sampler Blocks, Tiny Coin Purses, Growing Up Odd, Hot Pad
Several RSC participants are sewing up sprout blocks. So I had to give them a try, too. This is going to be interesting.
.
Last year I made and donated a baby quilt using "Growing Up Odd" blocks. The blocks were made with all colors of little squares. This year I thought I'd made the blocks in each month's RSC color.
It's true I love house block quilts and I make house blocks most every year. Last year I made only a few. This year I want to make more, enough for a quilt. The red house I made last year is in a row by itself, the other five I made this week.
The 2019 RSC Sampler looks like fun and I'm all in with five sampler blocks. (Fudged on the bow tie block pattern.) Started my Christmas sewing with three tiny coin purses and second hot pad, this one 8.5" square.
Last year December was super busy with last minute sewing. Pillow cases, tote bags, coin purses, hot pads/pot holders, knitted dishcloths. Think I'll try to make a few things each month so December won't be so stressful.

From time to time I get comments about my large variety of scraps. True, I have a lot of scraps. Also, my stash is very scrappy. I buy a lot of fat quarters, small cuts, end of bolt pieces in clearance bins, bags of scraps at quilt shows, etc. I look at all of it as fair game for my RSC blocks, totes, pillowcases, hot pads, small purses, whatever. I save scraps 1.5" square and larger as well as strings 1.25 and wider.

2019 RSC January Red Week 3, String Blocks, Charity Baby Quilt, Doll Quilt, Hot Pad
Proof I'm having lots of fun with RED. Last year I accidentally made my Eye of God blocks in two sizes. Half of my blocks were a little larger that the other half. Now I'm working to make blocks to finish up two Eye of God quilts this year. Not a problem as both quilts have been spoken for. Pictured is a red Eye of God blocks, ten string blocks and five blocks made with 2"x 3.5" rectangles. One super scrappy hot pad make it into the picture.
A word about the ten string blocks. Each block has a string that is a color different than red. This idea I stole from another RSC participant, Janine Marie at Quilts From the Little House found here Thank you Janine. Not sure what I'm going to do with them, but they are fun to sew. Besides, I love to have stacks of blocks near the end of the year to pull and make quilts of different sizes.
To see what others made with red, go here.
I pulled nine blocks from my orphan block collection to make the charity baby quilt pictured above.
And another doll quilt. Both the baby quilt and the doll quilt were donated during my quilt guild's January meeting.

2019 RSC January Week 1 RED, New RSC Projects, Christmas Gifts,Totes, Pillowcases, Doll Quilts
The first week of our 2019 Rainbow Scrap Challenge and I'm happy to see Angela has chosen the color RED! I have so many ideas, all stolen from RSC participant Saturday link ups. Pictured are two 49-Patch blocks and eight 16-Patch blocks. The 2019 RSC Tuesday Sampler looks like FUN so, yes, I'll be playing along. To see what others made with RED fabric, go here.
Oh my. December was filled with lots of Christmas sewing. Some things went out the door before I took a picture. Any hoo. Pictured are three 18" totes made from Laura Burch fabric.
I made several media totes for gifts. Media as in Movie and cartoon prints.
Another large media tote, three pillows made with Laura Burch fabric and Avengers fabric. Five Tiny Tiny Coin Purses. Tutorial here..
Finally, a couple charity doll quilts. I hope to continue sewing and donating a two doll quilts a month this year.

Ebenezer Donation Quilt, Great-Grandchild Quilt, Two Large Media Themed Totes, Two Super Hero Bibs, Three Doll Quilts
My Quilt Guild had a community service sewing day to make baby quilts and youth quilts for our local Ebenezer Christian Family Center. I worked on this quilt while there, finished it at home and donated during our quilt's October meeting.
Great-grandchild number four is due soon. I made this DC Super Hero quilt from a panel for him. Such an exciting time for our family.
I made six baby bibs for great-grandchildren. Here are two of them.
A few years ago I bought "The Everything Bag" tote bag pattern by Fons & Porter's. It makes a large tote bag. I'm not sure how many totes I have made using this pattern, but people that receive them seem to like them. I have one and use it a lot because it can easily carry a few items or several items. These were given to two grandsons with quilts in them. I call them media themed totes because the fabric strips were cut from licensed fabrics like Marvel, Disney, etc.
This is a charity baby quilt that I'll donate during our November Quilt Guild meeting. It measured about 41" square after a go in the washer and dryer.
Doll quilts are fun to sew. I gave two of these away, The third will be donated.

2018 RSC October, 16-Patch Large Quilt, 16-Patch Baby Quilt, Captain America Quilt, Three Doll Quilts, Two Tote Bags
Colorful Rainbow Scrap Challenge blocks made during the year become quilts in October, November and December. Pictured above is a 16-Patch quilt. After a go in the washer and dryer it measures about 60" x 77".
Sixteen 16-Patch blocks become a charity baby quilt.
To see what others made with rainbow fabric, go here Saturday morning.
This Captain America quilt is a UFO from last year. It finished at 55.5" x 80" and is for Jacob.
Two tote bags.
Three doll quilts. I made three more doll quilts, but they made it out the door before a picture was taken
