Hoopla Quilt Top

Sewing with one hand is slow going. I had a Hoopla Jelly Roll and some Hoopla yardage. Seemed like a good time to take advantage of a pre-cut and attempt an easy strip quilt variation. This quilt is for a grand daughter that wants me to make her a quilt with lots of green and blue. I'll piece the back from some Hoopla yardage during the next 3 days. It should finish a little shy of 60"x70". Surgery on my wrist to install a plate and some screws is scheduled Monday morning. Soooo I'm not sure when this little quilt will be finished.

Vacation

My motorcycle adventure vacation ride started in North Carolina. It was a cool, wet, overcast ride to Front Royal. Then we rode the entire length of a very wet, very foggy Skyline Drive.

We stayed at a motorcycle hotel in Robbinsville, NC. NEAT.





Unfortunately a hundred miles from home, my back tire ran over a walnut, I lost control, went off the road into a bit of a slide and then down. The bike is fine, but my left wrist has a few fractured bones. Urgent Care felt it should heat nicely, but they want me to see an orthopedic surgeon. I go Tuesday.

I'm selling my bikes. Last year I broke my ankle, this year my wrist. A three wheel Can Am is in my future :D

I'll be taking a break from blogging for a month or two, or at least until I learn to sew with one hand.

Earth and Sky Quilt

A pretty batik jelly roll+ contest quilt. I bought most of the strips from Connecting Threads. The batiks used in the border and the back came from local fabric shops, maybe JoAnns.
Sandwiched, quilted, a binding, washed, dried, and photographed. It's 70"x71". No pictures taken outside as it's raining.

Whimsical Crayon Box Completed!

I started Whimsical Crayon Box last year and set the top aside until I could learn to free motion quilt. I found the quilt pattern on Bonnie Hunter's blog, Quiltville.com. Thank you Bonnie! My finished quilt is a little different, it's smaller. Still, at 83" x 70", it's a large quilt for me to attempt to quilt.
I used a variegated thread, pink/blue/purple/green/yellow, to FMQ and sew on the binding. I am very pleased with this bright, colorful, fun little quilt! Looks happy on my bed!

Crayon Box Sandwich is Quilted

Crayon Box is a UFO from last year. It's about 84" x 70" and ready for the binding.
I must decide between a scrappy binding or a colorful stripe fabric binding.

Mother's Purple Quick Strippie

I finished free motion quilting, binding, washing and drying Mother's Purple Quick Strippie top for a grandchildren that likes purple.
We used Mary Johnson's Quick Strippie pattern.
This sweet little quilt was made using all purple fabrics. I don't know why my camera made the purple colors in this quilt look blue :D

Homemade Jelly Roll Quilt Finished

A jelly roll contest quilt top, a pieced back, sandwiched with Warm and Natural Batting, free motion quilted, some pretty binding, washed and dried. It's 67" x 59". A sweet little quilt :D
